General iCloud Troubleshooting

iCloud normally will only take a short amount of time to sync your data to your devices, however sometimes it may take longer then expected.

We use Apple’s iCloud API on OS X and iOS platform. All the syncing is performed through Apple, which means we have little control to when it syncs and why sometimes it doesn’t sync.

Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue.

1. Check iCloud is working on Apple’s System Status page.

2. Make sure to update the operating system on all of your devices.

3. Make sure that the time on your devices are configured to set time and date automatically,
OS X: System Preferences -> Date & Time -> Set date and time automatically
iOS: Settings -> General -> Date & Time -> Set Automatically

(Pre-iCloud Drive iOS 5 - 7, macOS 10.7 - 10.8)

4. Verify that “Documents & Data” is enabled in the iCloud settings,
OS X: System Preferences -> iCloud -> Documents & Data
iOS: Settings -> iCloud -> Documents & Data

(iCloud Drive iOS8+, macOS 10.9+)

4. Verify that “iCloud Drive” is enabled in the iCloud settings,
OS X: System Preferences -> iCloud -> iCloud Drive.
iOS: Settings -> iCloud -> iCloud Drive.

5. Make sure you are signed into the same iCloud account on your devices.

6. Restart your device to relaunch the iCloud process. (Sometimes it stalls)
OS X:  > Restart
iOS: Hold the power button until the shutdown slider appears and slide it. When device has shut down, press power button to turn on again.
